Overview

Manu Aggarwal is an independent practitioner and is an of counsel with ASP. Manu Aggarwal is a disputes specialist with expertise in general civil litigation and arbitrations with considerable experience in disputes arising from tenders and government contracts, insolvency and bankruptcy, construction, and financial disputes. 

Experience

He has been practicing in the Supreme Court of India, the High Court of Delhi and the various Tribunals in Delhi. He regularly appears before the National Company Appellate Tribunal. 

Manu exclusively worked in the Supreme Court of India, for 7 continuous years, as a retained advocate with Karanjawala & co. and then in the chambers of Mr. Rohinton Nariman, who was then the Solicitor General of India and later a judge of the Supreme Court.

In his independent practice, he is briefed as a counsel on appellate cases, trials, and arbitrations. 

Manu has over 30 reported decisions in leading cases. He has experience of assisting legal teams and senior advocates in high value complex cases. He successfully represented one of the largest corporate houses in the country in a complex high-value arbitration over control of a major telecom service provider. He is engaged in constitutional cases and has worked on multiple cases involving overrule of parliamentary statutes before the Supreme Court of India. 

Manu is extensively briefed in insolvency and bankruptcy matters before the National Company Appellate Tribunal and Supreme Court of India with briefs from all over India. He has successfully been able to bring relief to creditors in complex cases. He also appears before the National Company Law Tribunal in Delhi and other jurisdictions as well.

He is lead counsel in several arbitrations with total value over INR 2200 crores across various sectors including government tenders and contracts, insurance and real estate. He has successfully prepared claims and appeared before the most seasoned Arbitrators in the country: former judges of the High Courts and the Supreme Court, as also international arbitrators.

Academics

Manu is a Bachelor of Laws from the Campus Law Centre, Delhi University.

Before law, Manu pursued mathematics at St. Stephen’s College, University of Delhi, where he was awarded the B.R. Katyal Scholarship for being the best student of Mathematics in his batch. He did his Masters in Mathematics from the College of Natural Sciences, University of Houston, Texas, where he scored a GPA of 4.0 (the maximum).

Manu is a member of the Bar Council of India and Supreme Court of Bar Association.
